Hare Ram Hare Krishna - Dum Maro Dum

Classic not Forgotten
Hare Ram Hare Krishna - Dum Maro Dum

The clip is from the classic movie 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' from  1971.

Regards the remix, well that's an intriguing collaboration, the Indian vocal legend Asha Bhosle and the Kronos Quartet perform arrangements of songs by the late Bollywood composer, Rahul Dev Burman (1939-1994). Bhosle, who has sung on countless film soundtracks and was married to Burman, appears on eight cuts. The album 'You've Stolen my Heart', also features the virtuoso tabla player Zakir Hussain and Wu Man, a master of the pipa, a lute-like Chinese instrument. The opener, 'Dum Maro Dum (Take Another Toke)', which was originally used in a film about the hippy counterculture on the subcontinent, quickly displays Burman’s gift for melody.

So you can imagine how thrilled I [Pathaan] was when I got the phonecall to remix a track from the album to help create a buzz before it's release :)

At the time, myself and Switch were already experimenting in the studio so together we chose 'Dum Maro Dum', whilst I had a lighbulb moment and decided 'The Punk-a-Wallahs' would be a great name for our production guise !!!

With the demise of MySpace and knowing this has had 1000s of plays over the years, I thought it was about time to resurrect this timeless classic which got love around the world and thought it would be a treat for those who haven't heard it and remind those who have, of it's existence........

Also just to say 'The Punk-a-Wallahs' will be dropping some more delights in 2012 :)
